About Me

Welcome to Create, Code, and Do Another Load!

Fun and useful ideas for parents raising kids in this new age – the old school way...

I’m so glad you stopped by!  My name is Maytal, and I’m a mathematician/IT consultant/computer programmer turned mommy of 3!

Years ago, when my oldest was a baby, I ran into a mother of 3 little ones at the park.  Amazed (3 seems like magic when you only have one), I asked her how she does it.  She said she’s always sticking in a load of laundry in between everything else.  And that’s exactly what my life feels like now, we create, we code (more about that in a sec), we learn, we play, we cook, we clean, and in between it all, I find some time to do another load of laundry….

And I have a confession to make.  I don’t ban all screen time from my children.  I just limit and triage.  Because even if I really hated this new information age (which I don’t), whether we like it or not, it’s here to stay.  And I believe we need to parent with that in mind.

So I’ve taught my 9 year old how to code.  And he loves it.  And his brother and him use their imaginations to come up with some pretty cool little programs.  So, we’d like to show you how we did it, because I don’t believe you need to be an ex-programmer to teach your kids how to code, but the information out there is pretty disorganized and can be overwhelming to say the least.

But we don’t just code around here.  We do science and art and lots of creations, while combining some tot learning for our little princess.  And sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t, but we’d like to share what worked for us…

And finally, I’d like to share our parties.  I admit – it’s my little (not exactly the adjective my hubby would use) obsession.  But, I put so much work into it, I might as well share.

Because that’s what this is all about.  We’re here to share – one of many really wonderful things this new age has enabled us to do.

Thanks for stopping by!
