Frozen Birthday Party Dress - Part 2

Welcome back!  Today I'm going to show you how to put the straps on this gorgeous Frozen birthday party dress.  This project is such an easy way to make the birthday girl feel super special and to enhance the overall 'Frozen' mood of the party.  I hope you try it!  Please go to Part 1 of this tutorial to learn how to cut and loop the tulle if you haven't done that already.

The materials you'll need for this part of the project are...

  • 1.5 inch double-faced satin ribbon (I needed about 2.5 yards for my 4 year old's dress)
  • A pair of sharp scissors
  • A little rhinestone for the front
  • A lighter
  • A glue gun
  • Your tutu dress with the bandeau (crochet) top stretched over a paper towel roll

The Front of the Dress

Find the center of your bandeau top, and insert one end of the ribbon from the back through the left hole (shown in #1 below), and the other end of the ribbon from the back through the right hole.  Adjust your ribbon, so that the lengths of both sides are the same size, and it looks similar to the picture below (#2).

Take your rhinestone, and attach it to the center using a glue gun (#3).  This will also help with holding the ribbon in place.

Now count 8 squares from the center of the bandeau top to the left (#4 above).  Insert the left end of the ribbon through the 8th square (#5 below).

Find the square to the right of the square you just inserted through (#6 above), and insert the ribbon back through that square (#7 below).  Rearrange your ribbon so that it looks like #8 below, and apply a tiny amount of hot glue to hold it in place.  Repeat steps 4-8 for the right side of the bandeau top.

The Back of the Dress

Find the center hole (about 6 rows down), and insert both pieces of ribbon from the back through this same hole (#1).  Tie the ribbon as shown in #2 below.

Now, the only thing left to do is make the two ends of the ribbon look a bit nicer.  Fold one end of the ribbon as shown in #3 below, and cut it diagonally as shown in #4.  Repeat with the other end of the ribbon.

Now, use your lighter, and quickly pass the blue part of the light through the ends of the ribbon (see #5 below).  It is important to use the blue part of the light because it is just the right temperature.

And there you have it - the tutu dress is complete, and ready for your little girl to wear on her special day.  I'm sure she's going to love it!
